Week 1 – Introduction to Open Disclosure: the Four Principles

Fronditha Care is embarking on a 6-week campaign to raise awareness on the very important issue of Open Disclosure. Its purpose is to strengthen our culture of honest and transparent communication, which is at the core of our commitment to our community and the elders we care for.

What is Open Disclosure?

Open disclosure is the open discussion that we have to have with consumers when something goes wrong that has harmed or had the potential to cause harm to a consumer.

What we do at Fronditha Care

  • We communicate respectfully in a culturally sensitive way, providing information in a timely manner, supporting each person’s self and quality of life.
  • We obtain permission to discuss and share information when things go wrong.
  • We respond to the occurrence of harm/near miss by immediately informing our consumers about what happened, what have we done about it and what changes we have made as a result.
  • We identify where things have gone wrong and use this as an opportunity to learn and improve through analysing, monitoring and reporting gained information.
