Volunteers are important to the happiness and wellbeing of Fronditha Care’s residents and clients. They become familiar faces with regular visits and break up the day for the elderly.
If you have been approved for a Home Care Package and are on the National Priority Queue, you can request that one of our volunteers visit you on a regular basis.
Our volunteers are not bound to exclusively assist Fronditha Care’s clients and residents in our aged care facilities. They can visit people across Melbourne and in other aged care facilities.
Our volunteers have received the highest accolades including the ACSA Volunteer of the Year Award, and awards from The Victorian Premier such as The Volunteer Champions Award and Meritorious Service to the Community Award.
Our service is unique because it matches clients with a volunteer that can speak your language, has similar interests and understands your culture.
It’s about having a friend. Someone who visits regularly and takes an interest.
As an example, some of our volunteers are keen football fanatics, others have a knack for making a great Greek coffee and others are just great listeners. You are matched depending on your interests.
Volunteering does not require any specific qualifications, except for motivation, commitment and good humour.
“Georgia’s visits are a welcome break from my routine; when she visits it’s like a breath of fresh air and a pleasant change”
Fronditha Care has received numerous awards and recognition for contributions to our community.
Every year Fronditha Care honours its volunteers who have worked tirelessly to ensure Greek elders never feel alone or feel like they have no one to talk.
